Sad Underwing Caterpillar - Catocala maestosa

Sad Underwing Caterpillar - Catocala maestosa
Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve/ Grand Bay National Wildlife Refuge, Jackson County, Mississippi, USA
May 2, 2006
Size: ~ 80 mm
I am rearing these, so if everything goes well we will have an adult for identification.

June 11, 2006 - we finally have an adult for identification! Sad Underwing (Catocala maestosa)

I'm going to link this to your adult images.
That way they stay connected even if the ID changes (it looks right to me, though).

linking images
I didn't link those because I don't know if they are the exact same individual. I have several of the caterpillars that I have been rearing.

Ah, that complicates it a little.
In that case a thumbnail is better. It's good to have some kind of link between the two, though.

Here's the adult raised from this batch of caterpillars:

Sounds good.
I'll go along with that!
