Cockroach Wasp? - Ampulex canaliculata

Cockroach Wasp? - Ampulex canaliculata
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
May 2, 2011
Size: less than 5 mm
This spry little character moved even as the camera was shooting, out of frame, of course. While not common, these do show up at odd times throughout the end of spring and beginning of summer. Found on sweet-gum tree trunk.
