Since comparing this fly to a male (#521116) caught at the same locality, I now believe this is a Machimus callidus female.

Sorry Jim; I need more specim
Sorry Jim; I need more specimens (especially a male) to make an ID. This female is pretty beat-up (I think the abdomen has lost lots of setae); best I can do is Machimus or Neomochtherus sp. (Definitely not M. occidentalis!)

With parts of two legs also missing, this fly must of had a rough encounter with another critter. I will see if I can find a pair this summer.
