Samuel de Champlain Provincial Park, Near Matawa, Ontario, Canada
April 27, 2011
Found on the surface of still water.

Moved
Moved from Springtails and allies.

Image cropped for placement in the Guide.

Entomobrya cf. nicoleti
Entomobrya nicoleti (the one with the 2 bilateral dots at the end of the 4th abdominal segment) is not yet reported from northern America. The ID is tentative (therefore 'cf.') and requires verification by collecting specimens.

The specimen is by accident on the water surface. Its normal habitat is the litter layer and/or grass lands.

Thanks
That's neat! I'll keep my eyes open the next time I'm in the area. Do you think this species would be out all summer or just during the spring?

Thanks for looking at all my springtail shots.

Entomobrya species...
generally have several generations each year. So you may find them in all kind of instar stages during the whole year.
