Bombyliidae, Lordotus sp - Lordotus striatus

Bombyliidae, Lordotus sp - Lordotus striatus
Boirrego Springs, San Diego County, California, USA
October 10, 2010
This Lordotus was seen at the Borrego Sink on Alkali Goldenbush. I wonder if it could be a L. striatus male? It has the wing coloration of a L. striatus female #479331 that we saw the next day at another alkali area, Sentenac Cienega, also on Alkali Goldenbush. This bee flies are quite dimorphic! Any help will be much appreciated.

I vote for L. striatus,
based on wing pattern, and the distinctly denticulate costa not possessed by the female of this species.

Thanks for your vote, Hartmut. Yesterday I compared this male with a specimen in the CU Museum, which convinced me it is most probably this species. Everything seemed to match!
