Aphonopelma burrow. Based on ongoing but unpublished research, the only Aphonopelma in this part of California is A. eutylenum. This photo shows the silk curtain the tarantula weaves across its burrows entrance during the day. While not visible in the photos, the tips of spider's front legs could be see several inches back in the burrow.
