Taxonomic placement in Anomala vs. Callistethus not definitely solved; a worldwide revision of the Anomalini is needed to resolve the question; see(1)(2)(3)

Blanchard (1851), Bates (1888), Nonfriend (1891), Ohaus (1897, 1902), Blackwelder (1944), Frey (1968), and Potts (1974) considered Callistethus species exclusively Asian.(3)
