Chrysomelidae: Crioceris duodecimpunctata
I was ignoring this one because I thought some vegetable farmer would jump on this like a starved chicken on a grasshopper - the spotted asparagus beetle. Usually you find them only on the host plant - a daylily would be a surprising location for them. This is a nice lateral view.

Thanks
So much for our esoteric attempts at generic identification. That's what I get for not Googling for asparagus beetle as well as searching our pages. By the way, the daylilies are right next to my row of asparagus so he/she/it isn't to far from home turf.
We need a genus page for this now - or am I missing something else?

Agreed
The scutellum in Neolema sexpunctata has a transverse constriction whereas this individual has a transverse ridge. Otherwise very similar form, antennae etc.
