Megamelus
There are several species known to feed on Spartina, but not this one (whichever it is). Can you get specimens for examination?

I can try
Thanks again for your identification assistance. I will be collecting from this site again shortly, and will be happy to send you any specimens you are interested in.

This study site is 99% Spartina patens, with a tiny fringe of S. alterniflora at the marsh edge. Nevertheless, other potential host plants are sparsely scattered throughout: including Distichlis spicata (grass), Schoenoplectus americanus(sedge), Ipomoea sagittata (morning glory), and two species of aster.
