Anthaxia? - Anthaxia quercata

Anthaxia? - Anthaxia quercata
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
April 22, 2011
Size: unrecorded
This has been hanging around long enough! I can't find anything coloured like this nor can I find a description of this colouring. I have seen a few others in this area that don't conform very well with the colourings described as belonging to this genus. Is this just a colour morph of a common species? Or is Anthaxia just one of those genera whose members' coloring is all over the spectrum?

yup; must be quercata -- a rather easy one
Moved from Beetles.

"Easy", he sez.....
I hope I don't run into too many more like it.;-)
