Size: ~ 15 mm
The sizes on these are just guesses. They were average ground beetle size. Sorry I cut the antennae off on this one.

does it have a noticeable violaceous/purplish sheen on the elytra?

I'm not sure. They have the specimen and will be keying it out. So I guess we can wait.
