This is one of the Limnephilus

Limnephilidae
Thank you. I see it looks quite a bit like Tom Murray's Photo#146307, Limnephilus submonilifer. Do you think it might be the same species?
Are there any good books with pictures of caddisflies?

Nolie - for most caddis you cannot determine species, and often not genus, from photos like yours. You will need to keep the specimens and look at the private parts to get to species. I am not aware of a caddis picture book for North American taxa. Thomas Ames' recent Caddisfies book has alot of very good pictures but covers only trout streams in eastern NA and even then has very few of the species present. It is written for fisher persons and has alot of habitat and life history information. Another website which has lots of pictures like Bugguide.net is troutnut.com.
Have a great time collecting and if you need help with caddis just let me know.

Thank you very much, druiter. I will look for Thomas Ames' book and keep taking pictures in hope!

Moved for expert attention
Hi Ken,

I'm glad to see that we have an expert for caddisflies, as I get many species at my moth lights, being close to the Ottawa River. I will post more as they appear.

Feel free
to post them directly to Trichoptera. They'll just be moved there anyway. :)

OK, I'll do that.
