I have the book "Dragonflies Through Binoculars". It doesn't seem to help much. It kind of looks like the Martha's Pennant but according to the book, they are not down here.

This is a female
Celithemis ornata
(Faded Pennant). Check our plate
here
or our photo
here.
It is a southern look-alike of Martha's Pennanat.

Thanks Gayle
I had looked at your photos and finally came to the conclusion that Faded was closest. It just looked like mine had more yellow just behind the thorax. This one also looked somewhat different than the other Faded that I submitted:

We would agree with ornata
not enough color on the wings to be amanda (if we understand the distinction correctly - always a hazard!)

Damaged eye
I've noticed several dragonflies with a damaged eye. Does this happen maybe when the male grabs them? Does it hamper their vision?
