Darkling Beetle -
Polopinus youngi
Jupiter Ridge Natural Area, Florida, USA

I encountered these large beetles on almost every hike through this area, so they were quite common this time of year.
I had no idea what they were until I saw a similar image at

Polopinus sp.
All four N.A. species of Polopinus can be found in Florida. However, according to
this list
of Florida Coleoptera, only 3 are endemic, with P. youngi being recorded in Palm Beach county.
