Red Eggs

Red Eggs
Solano County, California, USA
May 18, 2011
I found this set of eggs on the underside of an oak leaf. I'm guessing they're from the family Rhopalidae. Any confirmations or further IDs? Thanks!

Rhopalidae
As discussed in the post Victor linked to below, I think it's safe to call these Rhopalidae but as far as I can tell the eggs of different species in this family are indistinguishable. The hatchlings all seem pretty similar too. Nice detail on the eggs--I hadn't noticed that circle of bumps at the anterior end before.

Looks like this one. [thumb:

If I found them around here, my guess would be boxelder bug eggs.

Agreed
I have seen boxelder bugs in the area, but don't know how to be sure of these specimens.

Yes,
but it looked like there was a lot of back and forth and not a terribly clear conclusion. I will just move to Rhopalidae for now.
