Wasp nest - Auplopus mellipes

Wasp nest - Auplopus mellipes
Howell, monmouth County, New Jersey, USA
June 1, 2011
This is its nest. It appears to be a cluster of mud capsules that have been covered with kind of mud envelope. It doesnt appear to be a reworked nest of a previous wasp.

Size?
Do you still have the nest? If so, it would be helpful to know its dimensions, and the size of the individual cells. Also, do you have a picture of it when it was still attached to something?

Size
The whole nest is about 3 and a half inches. Each capsule is 2/3 of an inch long and 1/4th of an inch wide. There at least 20 capsules from what I can see...
I dont have a picture of it before I removed it, but the nest was removed without any damage, so it looks the way I did when I found it. It was built at an angle, with 2 sides of the nest now exposing the inside, with the third side the "envelope" side that covered the insides before I removed it.
I can take some more pictures of the nest if needed.

Thanks for the info
So the nest was in the angle of a building, or some concealed place?

Building
It was in the metal frame of a chicken coup inside of an abandoned farm house, surrounded by woods. To my knowledge theres no water around so the mud must have come from after a rainy period last year.
