Robust, brownish Robber Fly couple - Stenopogon - Male Female

Size: ~ 20 mm (?)
Found in vernal pool habitat.

They somewhat resemble Proctacanthus, but they were not big enough.

Other photos show a bit more detail of the two specimens involved; or should I say: involved specimens ?
