Apparently they are... it's on the same roll as our gingerbread house being built so there's no mistake on the date :)

We do have about the mildest climate in Canada here though. Here are some figures: http://www.theweathernetwork.com/statistics/CL1021850/cabc0213/

Their historical data has the temperature that day as 4.7 °C - 8.7 °C, mean 6.7 °C.
