Daring Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax

Daring Jumping Spider - Phidippus audax
Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, USA
June 2, 2011
Taken today. The spider was caught in a glass. It was hanging from my doorway. Brushy -- suburb type location. Is this a Daring Jumping Spider? Thanks!

Really?
It looks more like a Phidippus regius to me.

Yes, really
Phidippus regius is more southern, does not occur in Indiana, lacks the matte metallic markings on the abdomen, and differs in the shape of the white spots. Phidippus audax is the default large black jumping spider in eastern North America.

Oh I See
Well that sounds like a pretty solid reason, lol

Glad it meets your standards
We typically do have rationale behind the identifications. ;-)
