July 19, 2004
This is a small (4-5 mm) Spittlebug, and is common here in my area.

Clastoptera proteus - Dogwood Spittlebug
ID by Dr Andy Hamilton

Cute portrait of a Clastoptera sp. You even managed to get a front view! I can never tell which way the bloomin' bug is pointed, 'cause both ends look so much alike:-)

Wrong-way 'round
You are not kidding Eric,

I shot a flurry of photos previously, and all came out great until realized I was looking at it's abdomen and wing tips in every shot!
