Only one problem
They only list Photuris sp. and mention there's 21 eastern species with many waiting to be described.

 
yeah...
i'm painfully aware of that --may well be the reason why we still have no sp pages ))

 
Characters
The problem is that Photuris cannot presently be determined beyond the genus level: morphological characters (i.e. those provided by McDermott 1967) do not reliably separate species. I think that even if/when identification is eventually made possible, it will not be simple...

 
barcoding?
Maybe using barcoding or other dna markers will be used to sort through the genus, or maybe someone is already doing it?
