Leaf mines on dogwood - Phytomyza agromyzina

Leaf mines on dogwood - Phytomyza agromyzina
Oakland, Alameda County, California, USA
June 5, 2011
On dogwood, Cornus sp., possibly Red Osier Dogwood, C. sericea (identified by John Pearson from photo), next to Temescal Creek. The odd Y shape suggests that the leaf miners must have changed their minds.

The leaf is 6.2 cm long.
