Cydia sp.? - Cydia toreuta

Cydia sp.? - Cydia toreuta
Oak Ridge, Guilford County, North Carolina, USA
May 28, 2011
Size: ~3/8 in
A very pretty moth.
It looks like Cydia toreuta, but it is more colorful than the specimens on BG now.
I have a lot of pine trees around my house.
It also looks a lot like Cydia piperana, which is a western species...

Drawn to porch light.

Eastern Pine Seedworm
I'm pretty sure this is 3486 – Cydia toreuta. Photos of metallic moths can vary greatly depending on the angle and lighting but I think this matches up well to MPG photos, and range rules out Cydia piperana.

Cydia
Thanks, Randy.
I didn't realize how beautiful this moth was until I
enlarged the image.
