Found under bark of fallen scrubby oak tree in longleaf pine dominated forest.

Assuming Hesperobaenus....
Then Hesperobaenus rufipes is a pretty solid bet for this one. All the features match up.

A lateral shot would be great
If you could make sure that the side of the elytra are visible especially (counting the rows of punctures is a genus-level character), that would be helpful in getting a definitive det.
