Dot-tailed Whiteface (teneral) - Leucorrhinia intacta - female

Dot-tailed Whiteface (teneral) - Leucorrhinia intacta - Female
Camden, Knox County, Maine, USA
June 8, 2011
Size: 1-1.25 inches
The white face and front(top)of the thorax look like a Frosted Whiteface, but there seems to be too much yellow on the abdomen. However, I couldn't find a better match.

Teneral female
IT looks like a Dot-tailed Whiteface (L. intacta). The pale carina (the line in the middle of the front of the thorax) is a good marker for this species, though I've seen juvenile Frosted's with it as well. The squarish dot on Segment 8 is another good marker as well as the long dorsal markings on the abdomen that just about cover the entire segment.

Thanks.
That makes sense. I've seen several mature Dot-tailed Whitefaces in the same area.
