Robber Fly - Laphria

Robber Fly - Laphria
Holden, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
June 2, 2011
Size: about 1 inch
found at 3:20 pm on a fern in a woodlot

Moved from Laphria sericea.

Moved from / ithypyga complex.

Not index/ithypyga
This doesn't look like it belongs with this species pair. There is too much orange, while those species have a mostly bare, black thorax, with an orange triangle of pile. Placing with sericea/aktis.

This looks like
Laphria index.
