Currant gall from oak catkins. Majority of galls were littered on the ground but I found one attached to a fallen catkin. Gall was found May 28, eclosed June 3rd mostly within an hour

Do you know what kind of oak these were falling from?

I don't know. I don't know my oaks well enough but I remember that there were black oaks in the woods. I'd be happy to have an excuse to go back to the spot.
