Yes, male Pipiza sp.
Eric is right, and by the general appareance and the hairy eyes I'd go for a male in the genus Pipiza!

Syrphid.
Well, by the wing venation I can tell its a syrphid:-) I know that narrows it down a great deal. Ha! Very fine images as usual.
