longhorned weevil - Toxonotus lividus

longhorned weevil - Toxonotus lividus
Dare County, North Carolina, USA
May 4, 2011
Size: 7 mm
This weevil was caught in a southern pine beetle trap this spring. It wasn't one that I had come across before and I couldn't find anything promising while perusing the guide pages. The photos are not very clear and I apologize for that. A few things that might help...the antennae are ~6mm long and do not appear to be elbowed and the entire body is covered with fine hairs. Any help is greatly appreciated!

thanks again, Charlie
Moved from Piesocorynus.

ID
Piezocorynus probably lateralis Jordan Need sharper pics to be sure.

Moved tentatively; very nice anthribid!
will try harder to figure it out; you're right about the antennae: they are not elbowed in members of this family

Moved from ID Request and re-linked in correct order

Thanks
very much!
