I don't know if this is and adult or not. It has a very elaborate markings pattern.

I think Alice is correct
Looks like I jumped the gun on this one. The two genera at least seem to be very closely related, and can be difficult to tell apart. However, the antennae bases are more swollen on this one that they should be for a Pristoceuthophilus, and in retrospect, the color pattern looks more like Gamarotettix too.

Moved from Pristoceuthophilus.

Yes, I think so too, now...
And as Alice said the overall shape seems to be closer to Gamarotettix. Thanks for the help!

Gammarotettix
Not sure if this is a characteristic to go by, but with that enlarged 1st segment of the antennae and general appearance, could it be a Gammarotettix sp. instead?

Antennae
I'm seeing that the 1st antennal segment isn't diagnostic, but stubby legs, color, etc. still says Gammarotettix to me?

Thanks, Alice!
Thanks for the suggestion! To tell you the truth I can't find photos that match closely enough for me to say either way. I guess I will leave these here and await any further comments.

Thanks, Dave!
Thanks for the ID help Dave. LOL - I remember it was not long ago I thought I'd never see any new Orthopterans. Now I am seeing lots of them!

I found an ornate Shield Katydid nearby!
...wonderfully complex markings. Santa Cruz County is proving to be much more diverse for Orthopterans than Santa Clara County was for me!

I am thinking that this is female Camel Cricket
...maybe Genus Pristoceuthophilus or Ceuthophilus?
