Gold Bug - Ectobius lapponicus

Gold Bug - Ectobius lapponicus
Kittery, York County, Maine, USA
June 15, 2011
Size: 3/4 inch
Looked quite gold in the sun. It would hop from leaf to leaf. Not particularly shy, but would try to crawl to the underside of the leaf. Would fly if harrassed.

Nice work!
Thanks Ken - you made it look like a good shot. I'll try to do better next time.

Yes a roach
Some kind of roach, hard to say. Maybe an Ectobius.

Ectobius lapponicus
I think it might be a tawny cockroach. It seemed too 'soft' to be an Asian or brown banded. Apparently they are common in New Hampshire and have now crossed the border to Maine.

Cockaroach
Could be a brown banded or Asian Cockroach, hard to tell.

Looks like a
roach
