One of a number of "ripe" pseudocone galls on a ?blue? spruce in the interpretive center yard.
A single adult which emerged from the gall looks like this: The adults seem to possibly be related to these:

I can't tell from this photo--would you say the needles on the gall are consistently less than 1/3 the normally length, or generally not less than 1/3 the normal length?

The needles on the gall are almost exclusively longer then 1/3 the normal length. Averaging about half to 2/3 normal.
