Scolytinae - Cnesinus strigicollis

Scolytinae - Cnesinus strigicollis
Leesburg, Lee County, Georgia, USA
May 23, 2011
Size: 3.0mm
Collected at lighted sheet. I shy away from Scoly's, but with this guys
"Andy Rooney eyebrows" I couldn't pass it up. A fine textured black microsculptured
pronotum, dark brown elytra w/deep stria and stiff setae, long setae on the scape
and pedicle, four patches of stiff setae around the head. A long shot guess of
a Hylocurus species. Please let the pro's tag this one. Thanks

ID confirmed
Definitely Cnesinus strigicollis

thanks!

Moved tentatively; neat bug.

maybe Pseudopityophthorus.....

Not Pseudo*
Stria are too pronounced, and scape isn't long enough! Keep trying!
