Unknown Hopper Nymph - Acanalonia bivittata

Unknown Hopper Nymph - Acanalonia bivittata
Montrose, Laurens County, Georgia, USA
June 4, 2011
Size: unrecorded
Found on chewed-on sweet-gum leaf on edge of clearing. This little guy wasn't overly shy as can be seen, but it was active. I can't classify what kind of hopper this is, so I'll turn it over to those in the know. I assume the fluid it was ejecting was a defensive gesture or did I disturb its eating?
