Polistes dominula - European Paper Wasp - Polistes dominula

Polistes dominula - European Paper Wasp - Polistes dominula
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 14, 2011
Pretty sure I'm OK with the ID (but always appreciate correction!)
What I'm really interested in is what it has in its mouth?
This wasp was carrying this back into its nest inside the metal tube it was on when these were shot. Since it was inside the tube, I couldn't see what it did with the mass once inside. Is it an egg mass of some kind? Food (another bug)?
Any ideas?
