This fly caught my eye because of its yellow feet. It was larger than a house-fly and was sitting on a delphinium leaf in a nursery. It flew off before I had a chance to take more pictures.

Thanks Ken. I was not getting anywhere with my own attempts to ID this fly through the Guide. In desperation I Googled Yellow-footed fly, which led to a picture of a similar-looking one tentatively identified as Sarcophagidae.
