very large spider - Dolomedes scriptus

very large spider - Dolomedes scriptus
South Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
June 21, 2011
Size: 3" across the legs!
Body was 3/4 inch long. On a shaded, mossy bank about 18 inches above the water on the Powwow River. Biggest spider I have ever seen in the Northeast.

Moved from ID Request.

fishing spider
this looks like a fishing spider of the genus Dolomedes

Yes
and because the white W marks go through the center of the abdomen pattern I'd guess it's Dolomedes scriptus.
