Siphlonurus typicus
The undersides have to be examined as part of identification of Siphlonurus, so the specimens were necessary for further placement.

Siphlonuridae: Siphlonurus sp.
I think the Oxbow NWR must be a very happy place for Siphlonurus species. I suspect I have seen three from there so far.

Oxbow NWR
is a great place for insects and tons of other wildlife. It's got the Nashua River, beaverponds, swamps, sphagnum bogs, a couple of sand pits, and lots of woods. It has only 2 trails, one that runs along the river and makes a big loop, and the other is called the Old Tank Road, since it used to be part of Fort Devens, and tanks would go on it. The tank road goes 2 miles through most of the habitat.
There are hardly any people there, especially in the summer with tons of mosquitos and deer flies, and it's less than 10 minutes from where I live.
