Mayfly Larva - Arthroplea bipunctata

Mayfly Larva - Arthroplea bipunctata
Harvard, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
May 21, 2006
Size: 8.5mm

Arthropleidae: Arthroplea bipunctata
There is only one species - don't know why I didn't place it as "bipunctata" earlier.

Arthropleidae: Arthroplea sp.
The long fringed maxillary palpi can be seen (barely). This species has a charactertic swimming behavior that looks something like the human dolphin kick - very easy to pick out in the field.

Dolphin kick
I did notice the odd swimming style of this larva.
