Elm Sawfly, Cimbex americana - Cimbex americanus

It's a robust insect, at least 1" long. It was resting quietly on a sweet gale bush on a sphagnum mat. Surrounding area is mixed hardwoods and conifers. It seemed quite calm, didn't mind the camera getting close.
