Naturalized Drone Fly - Eristalis hirta - Female
Lobos Dunes, Presidio, San Francisco, San Francisco County, California, USA
August 4, 2007
Note the following key characters among those leading to E. arbustorum:

1) Middle tibia yellow more than 2/3 from its base, first tarsal segment also yellow;
2) Face nearly completely whitish pilose;
3) Some (tiny, hardly discernible) hairs on arista.
