Don't know about this one. Looks more like
Paromalus
to me based on the width and the punctation. Need a straight on well-illuminated dorsal shot.

You may want to supplement Hatch with Bouquet and Laplante's recent treatment of the histerids of Canada (
http://www.amazon.com/Coleoptera-Histeridae-Yves-Bousquet/dp/066019399X
). Should be almost complete, if not complete, coverage of the Washington fauna. Awesome keys and images!

Looks to be a first for the West Coast.. When I looked it up in Hatch Part III, he had it for se BC and north ID and marked rare. another odd looking Hister...
