This plant had several leaf mines on it. Plant identified as White Snakeroot (Ageratina altissima) so that probably means that these mines were made by Liriomyza eupatoriella. (Thanks to the information and photos in [cite:483134,338].)

Some agromyzids pupate in the mines and some leave before pupating. I'm not sure offhand which category this species belongs in.

Yes, I'm attempting to raise some this year for the first time. I'm not sure how it will work out yet. If you can see the larva inside the mine, there's a pretty good chance it will emerge from the mine. After that I'm just experimenting at the moment.

I think you may have this one identified correctly, based on the close-up, but it would be great to have mine photos linked to reared adults so we can sort these out with certainty.
