Sphagnum Sprite in New Brunswick / Kouchibouguac National Park - Nehalennia gracilis - Male
Kelly's Bog, Kouchibouguac National Park, Kent County, New Brunswick, Canada
June 22, 2011
These were abundant today, along with at least half a dozen Ebony Boghaunters, a few Harlequin Darners, a single Delicate Emerald and 9 Jutta Arctic butterflies in about an hour of survey work. This is also my first decent picture of the species and it is apparently the first post on Bug Guide for the species for New Brunswick, although it is quite common in sphagnum bogs throughout the region.
