Monarch - Danaus plexippus - Female

This was about 12.15 p.m. - she made a short flight to this bush (Vitex) around 11 a.m. then stayed on this flower to continue drying out for another hour or so. That's about two hours from emergence to first flight, then she spent another hour resting before she flew again into a nearby tree.

She did not want to open her wings but I got this rather blurry shot when she flapped for balance - just to show the female's brownish orange coloration.
