I figured out what all those hairs are for. They're actually like Velcro, and the little larvae use them to hold all sorts of trash. I shot some video showing them looking around for stuff to collect and even captured one loading a good sized piece on. I think I may have some fun with this and raise them, giving them each some colorful trash to pick up. Should make for some fun pictures. I'll post a link to the video after I've rendered it this weekend.
