checkered beetle ? - Attalus trimaculatus
Livermore, Alameda County, California, USA

Size: 1/2 cm
This little beetle looked like a Ladybug in shape but much smaller . I only found one on a huge ornamental Buckwheat flowering bush of which there were mainly bees , wasps and hoverflies swirling around in constant motion and I was happy to have an insect that stayed relatively still . When I grabbed the branch to bring it closer , it fell off so I was not able to get more shots in the high noon sunshine on a 90 degree day . It would be nice to know what this little fellow is ... but right now I am in suspense . Thankyou sooo much for any comments to further my buggy knowledge , sincerely Beth

Moved tentatively
Moved from Attalus.

no ladubug has a shape remotely like this--
not to mention the fact that a great many of them are much smaller than '½ cm'

Moved from Malachiinae.
