3 mm correct?
Tom: looks like the plum curculio (C. nenuphar), which should measure in at about 7 mm. A very nice photo.

 
size is correct on this one
I thought the 2 pointed projections at the rear end of the elytra were odd. I've still got most of these beetles if you're interested.
