Short-legged Water Mite - Hydrachna

Short-legged Water Mite - Hydrachna
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
May 25, 2006
Looked like an English pea swimming. Was about 2/3rds the size of an English pea. I think I have the ID right, a water mite, though I notice the legs seemed shorter on mine than on the mites shown in other people's postings.

Moved from Hydrachnoidea.

likely Hydrachna sp. (Hydrachnidae)
Just an educated guess since details of the genital region are not visible:

- 'short-legged' looks like a Hydrachna sp. (Hydrachnidae)
