An Araneus, like the Cat-faced,
but we're not certain there isn't something different down there in Arizona and New Mexico. We'll see what we can find.

That looks good. There's a couple in the Guide that look fairly identical. If it is, go ahead and frazz as there's already 6 pages of images. Thanks.

 
AZ Araneus sp.
I think it's probably cat-faced too, but there's a chance it might be something else. Did you take a full dorsal shot?

That was it. It was up under a rock ledge and that was the best I could get. Thanks for the effort.

 
Araneus illaudatus
I think might match better. It would be nice for someone to get a bunch of voucher images from the AZ area. I have a feeling that A. illaudatus is the more common species down there.

 
Better
Also, the abdominal black bars look more like the one seen here vs cat-faced here or here and it matches the dorsal pattern of the image here.
